In the equation for potential energy, what quanity do you find when you multiply m times g?

    G is the acceleration due to gravity. Since m is mass, you're finding a form of mass times acceleration, or using Newtons second law

    F=ma. Thus you're finding the Force that gravity applies to the mass, which is its weight.
