Cell can be connected in parallel by connecting like-polarity terminals of adjacent cells to each other. The voltage remains the same, but it can benefit the batteries in the two ways:
Increased Current: The current output in a parallel connection increases.
Increased Power: With the same current drawn as earlier, the connected n cells can power the system for n times as earlier
