A satellite is placed in orbit 8.52 x 105 m above the surface of Jupiter. Jupiter has a mass of 1.90 x 1027 kg and a radius of 7.14 x 107 m. Find the orbital speed of the satellite.

    Explanation: Given:

    Mass of Jupiter = 1.9*10^27Kg

    Radius of Jupiter = 7.14*10^7m

    Orbital speed of satellite is given by the equation:V = SQRT (G * M / R)

    But G = 6.673*10^-11Nm^2/Kg^2

    V = SQRT (6.673*10^-11) * 1.9*10^27) / 7.14*10^7

    V = SQRT1.776*10^9

    V = 42,142.6515m/s=4.214*10^4m/s
