    A. Narcolepsy

    Explanation:

    Rapid eye movement sleep is a condition whereby the eyeball moves in different direction as a result of brain wave activity. This is only peculiar to REM sleep and it does not occur in non-REM sleep.

    Narcolepsy is defined by a sudden fall into a deep sleep state while talking, walking etc.

    Narcolepsy is characterized by;

    Hallucinations Sleep paralysis Excessive sleepiness Cataplexy (Partial or total loss of muscle control usually occurring as result of a strong emotion such as laughter).

    In this scenario, Miguel actually experienced narcolepsy which was characterized by cataplexy, this was as a result of the excitement he felt after being given a surprise gift.
