Mansa Musa is considered the richest person ever in history. He had vast, incalculable wealth. He was Muslim and he did a lot of things to expand Islamic religion in Africa. During his reign, Mali became a major center of Islamic science and learning, as his capital Timbuktu was one of the most important trade centers where regional caravans met and ended. Mali is in West Africa, in the southern part of the Sahara.
