    I believe the most likely answer out of those four options would be: A) Freedmen

    Explanation:

    After the civil war ended, former slaves were freed from slavery. However, just because they were free did not mean they escaped prejudice against them. New laws called the "Black Codes" were passed in many southern states (Including Texas in 1866). These laws would restrict african american rights. Also, hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan would actively hunt and kill any african americans in "protest" of slaves being freed.
