    Spurred by the hardship the Native American were facing and the effort of the then director of Bureau of Indian Affairs, John Collier, the Indian Reorganization Act was passed in 1934. The provisions of this act includes the abolition of land allocation, the release of funds to Native Americans to purchase lost tribal lands, the preferential treatment of Indians when applying for jobs on the reservation and lastly, the restoration of Indian tribal government.
