    Hysteria, being an extreme level of irrational excitement can be seen in "The Crucible" in a few different ways. Abby and the girls in the forest doing 'witch-like' things, as well as the townspeople turning against Tituba. The threat of physical violence (the dagger in the door) and actual physical violence (the pressing).
