What doesn't explain how the Spaniards were able to conquer the Aztecs would be that they destroyed the Aztecs' weapons. Aztecs actually had weapons made out of wood and stone, together with obsidian-type weapons. This isn't something that the Spaniards could easily destroy as it could be replaced at the time.
