The Aztec people lived in central Mexico from the 14th to 16th centuries. The capital city of the Aztec Empire was a city known Tenochtitlan. They called themselves Mexica. Modern day Mexico and its capital city, Mexico City were named after the Mexica. The Aztec people practiced human sacrifice. They worshiped the sun and sacrificed an innocent victim to the sun every month.
