Answer: The lawyer has high prestige by virtue of occupation, while the self-made millionaire has only wealth.

Max Weber was a German sociologist, philosopher and political economist. He is often considered (along with Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx) the founder of sociology.

Weber argued that, when considering someone's position in a hierarchy or stratification system, the wealth of a person is not the only relevant factor. Social status is also very important to consider. This approach claims that social prestige and power can be independent of finances. In this case, a lawyer might have less wealth than a self-made millionare. However, he would still enjoy the prestige of having an admirable, virtuous occupation. On the other hand, the millionaire only has his wealth.
