Are you generally satisfied with the media's performance, or are you generally unhappy? Why do you respond as you do? Can you draw distinctions between the different media industries, for example, maybe you think the movie and video game industries are just great, but newspapers and popular music continue to fail you? Defend your answers using the principles of social responsibility theory.

Unhappy My response is due to the fact that media at most times choose to omit some parts of the story they are reporting, just so that the story can fit their narrative. I think all media industries are the same. They are driven by profit, therefore they tell stories that will sell, rather than stories to inform and educate. Media houses only fulfill their social responsibilities because they know that in this time and age (time of social media) they will be held accountable by the people (their viewers), because that stories they report are our lived experiences. Due o social media people now have the opportunity to tell their own story to the world, they no longer need the media. In order for media houses to stay relevant they need to be authentic, ethical, and be accountable.

    Explanation:

Social responsibility theory was born in the mid 20th century. This theory states that media houses should report news freely without censorship, but also maintain an ethical standards and be open to criticism by the public and professional bodies.
