In the United States, as well as in any other democratic state, the executive branch of power takes care of all the areas of countries functioning. It needs agencies because the areas, such as Treasury, Agriculture, and Education, are very different and can be managed successfully only with focused attention of dedicated government officials led by a Secretary of the specific agency. Currently, there 15 different federal executive departments (agencies).
