1) Name at least two reasons why natural primary forests contain more biodiversity than even-aged, single-species forestry plantations. 3) Name several major causes of deforestation. Where is deforestation most severe today?

    1.) primary forests has never been tampered with by humans therefore old/varying forest trees of different ages and types can still be found while man made plantations lack diversity because there is very few species of tree and at the same age.

    Also in natural forest the animal species have little or no contact with man so their population and diversity thrives while the reverse is the case in man made plantations.

    3.) Cause of deforestation are:

    Rapid development into forest areas, sales of timber gotten from forest trees, farming activities and animal rearing, natural causes such as drought, exploration of natural resources found in forest areas.

    Deforestation is very high in countries like Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Indonesia, Russia, Mexico, Sudan and many other nations.
