    populist

    Explanation:

At that time the populist wanted the state to control the railroads due to the bad behaviors conducted by the railroad companies. They ignore safety standard among their workers, put extremely long hour and paid them very little.

They also advocated for currency expansion (at that time united states adopted a gold standard, which determine the value of their currency based on Gold). The populist wanted the government to use silver as additional unit of measurement.
