    b. Neuroticism

    Explanation:

Eysenck was a psychologist who proposed a personality theory based on three different factors that were biologically determined saying that people inherit a nervous system that will have a determinant influence in the way they behave and react to different situations.

    These 3 factors are:

Extraversion: People high on this factor are sociable and impulsive while introverts are more quiet and reserved. They also tend to be pessimistic. Neuroticism: People high on neuroticism will react with stress to more situations and tend to be highly emotional and they need time to recover from a situation that upsets them or stress them. People low on neuroticism are more stable and don't get upset or aroused as easily. Psychoticism: People high on this will be cruel, lonesome and will get into trouble easier than people who are low on this trait.

In this example, a man tends to have strong reactions to emotional events, he gets overly excited and takes a long time to recover. We can see that this is the definition of being high on the neuroticism dimension (strong reactions which need more time to recover from and highly emotional).

Neuroticism is the name Eysenck gave to a dimension that ranges from normal, fairly calm and collected people to one's that tend to be quite "nervous." Neuroticism is one of the 'Big Five' factors in the study of personality in psychology. It is measured and ranges from emotional stability (low neuroticism) to emotional instability (high neuroticism).

A neurotic personality trait is persistent, often disproportionate, worrying and anxiety. The person strives to be a perfectionist during their everyday activities, and experience stress as a result of events that are beyond their control.

Neuroticism can lead an individual to focus on, and to dwell on, the negative aspects of a situation, rather than the positives. They experience jealousy and become envious of other people when they feel that they are in an advantaged position over themselves. They may be prone to becoming frustrated, irate or angry as they struggle to cope with life stressors.

A man with the tendency to have strong reactions to emotional events, becomes excited and panics, when facing even mild stress, according to Eysenck is said to be Neurotic.
