Andisols present a type of soil unique for its volcanic ash origin.

This type of soil is present in so-called ''Ring of fire'' a belt in the Pacific famous for its seismic activity, and volcano eruptions.

The Pacific Nort West is the region in North America that is a part of this seismic belt, therefore the andisol soil type is present there.
