    Peruvian territory was the household to the Norte Chico people, one of the six ancient in the world, and to the Inca Empire, the main state in Pre-Columbian America. It was occupied by the Spanish Empire in the 16th century. The location and mineral treasures permitted Peru to developed one of the richest and most influential Spanish colonies subsequently the Spanish invasion in 1532.
