Political socialization like most socialization stems from the influence of parents. Most children first learn about politics and the values of voting and/or political ideology in the home. Parents can take their children to the voting booth or demonstrate political leanings in conversations at home. The values of the home are also often reflected in the way a person will vote. The other options could certainly impact a person's political association but most are still directed by the parents. Parents choose religious direction in early years, ethnic heritage is passed on my parents, parents place children in schools that reflect their owns values, and SES is driven by how the parents react to their wealth or lack their of.
