Wilhelm Windy was the first psychologist (self declared.) He was the first to create the study of the mind's own science, psychology. Before, the study of the mind was just a small part of both physiology and philosophy. Wundt believed it should be its own science. He created the first laboratory for psychology.

In the year 1879 Wilhelm Wundt had opened the Instiute for Experimental Psychology at University of Leipzing In Germany. This was the very first laboratory that was dedicated to psychology, the opening was thought of as the beginning of modern psychology. This is the reason why Wundt is often known as the father of psychology.
