    Ancient Mesopotamia was a city-state in western Asia, situated between two rivers which are the Tigris-Euphrates river system. In modern-day, it was located in most of Iraq, Kuwait, eastern Syria, northern Saudi Arabia, southeast Turkey, etc.

    People created taxes to finance and supply the defense for Mesopotamia and for trade with the surrounding city-states.
