Why it is important to understand workplace trends?

From what I've seen, the main change in the workplace is that millennials are now the mainstays in the workplace and have been raised to believe they have a voice and an opinion that are important regardless of their current status at the job. This is very different from the generations before who were taught to sit and do their job until they worked their way up to the top of the ladder. There is more of a sense of entitlement from the workers of today's age, which can be good and bad.
