Suppose a vacuum cleaner uses 120 J of electrical energy. If 45 J are used to pull air into the vacuum cleaner, how efficient is the vacuum cleaner?

    Power efficiency is defined as the ratio of the output power divided by the input power:

    Efficiency = out/in • 100%

    So, (120 - 45) J / 120J • 100% = 62.5%
