    Article V of the U. S ... Constitution was enacted in 1787. There were two methods to amend the U. S. constitution namely, A) Congressional Method and B) Conventional Method. However, only Congressional method was followed as there was an apprehension that the Conventional method would reopen the Constitution for alternation and it could affect democratic process.

    Explanation:

    In the Congressional method, two-thirds in each chamber of Congress propose an amendment. Then, the three-fourth of state legislature would ratify it. Though, as many 11,000 amendments were passed, only 27 amendments were ratified. Thus far, Congress has proposed all 27 amendments were passed by State legislatures and only only one amendment was passed by State conventions. As two-thirds of ratification was required, it became difficult to pass any amendments.
