    Unfair or deceptive business practices include fraud, misrepresentation, and oppressive practices by a business which harm t consumers. It is prohibited by law in many countries.

    At common law, individuals or businesses were not entitled to punitive damages for wrongful acts committed.

    Consumers are required to demand and file for a lawsuit. The business if found liable in court they will be liable for punitive damages. The harmed parties pay the attorney's fees.
