my opinion tints are a source of color to add a difference to what i would like to call light and dark.
shading is when you are drawing a head and you shade the underneath o the head so it looks realistic.

Tint is a color + white
example : pink is a tint because it is red + white
shade is a color + black
example : dark blue is a shade because it can be blue + black
