Is there a difference between diminuendo and decrescendo?

    Decrescendo is an instruction to play gradually more softly from a director. Diminuendo is a mark that instructs you to gradually to play softer.

    Decrescendo means to gradually play softer while diminuendo means to diminish. Playing wise they are about the same. They become different within the definition.
