Answer: A percussion instrument is any kind of instrument that makes a sound when physically manipulated or struck by a beater, mallet, hand, or drumstick. (This can be hitting, shaking, scratching, knocking, etc.) Some common examples of percussion are a gong, a drum set, xylophone, bongo, and maracas.
