What aspects of architecture made for the Christian church reflect architecture made for the Roman Empire?

    In France, some of the great cathedrals literally look like temples that the Greeks and Romans used. Some of them have huge and majestic pillars/columns, and labyrinths, which were common in greek and roman architecture and mythology.
