Anthropologists believe that dot painting originated in 1971.

    Explanation:

Dot painting, which is now internationally recognised by anthropologists as unique Australian Aboriginal Art, originated in 1971 when Geoffrey Bardon was teaching children of the Aboriginal people in Papunya, and also inspired Aboriginal painters to introduce the dot painting technique which, either removed sensitive elements, or camouflaged them by using layers of paint and dots.
