According to some American Indians, the beads symbolize the spider, the web weaver itself. Others believe the beads symbolize the good dreams. The Web absorbs terrible dreams at night and discharges them during the day. The feathers act like ladders allowing good dreams to descend on the infant or adult who is sleeping.
