For colored pencils on a canvas, You can either draw directly onto the wood with your colored pencils, or you can prepare it with a light coat of Golden Pastel Ground ... Apply Golden Pastel Ground to canvas to create a toothy surface that can readily accept colored pencils. If you want to draw on canvas, this will allow you to do that.

For watercolor pencils, Watercolor pencils are a medium that combines drawing with painting. When you add water to a watercolor pencil drawing the pigment spreads over the paper to imitate the look and feel of a watercolor painting. Working with these kinds of pencils is a great way to experiment with colors.

It Is Not Recommended to Dip the Tip of Watercolor Pencils in Water. It is not recommended to dip the tips of Faber-Castell watercolor pencils into water as it will compromise the integrity of the pencil. The lead and wood become soft and will become brittle which will then break easily.
