Option a is true. Dante was from Florence where he took sides in a dispute between the White Guelphs and the Black Quelphs regarding the degree of independence the city should have from the Pope. While Dante was in Rome representing the White Quelphs, the Black Quelphs took power and banished the white Guelphs from Florence. Option b is false. It took Dante twelve years to write "The Divine Comedy". Option c is false. Dante did enter politics and was elected to be one of the six Priors of Florence, but he was never the "mayor" of Florence. Option d is true. "The Divine Comedy" is the title of Dante's three-volume poem. The three volumes are titled Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.
