In the revelation to the Prophet Joseph Smith found in Doctrine and Covenants 20, the Lord commanded that His restored Church be organized on April 6, 1830. He also gave instructions about the government of His Church, including an explanation of different priesthood offices and the duties of those who would hold those offices.
