A marathon runner keeps sipping glucose water at regular intervals. What could be the reason for this

    Glucose, together with oxygen, is needed for respiration. The main product of respiration is energy, used by the runner during the marathon. Water is needed to replace the one lost via sweating, to keep the cells hydrated.
