The two important uses of biotechnology is the gene therapy and Genetic engineering.

Explanation: Gene therapy is the manipulation of genes in the genetic make up of an individual to eradicate the inheritable genetic disorders. The second use is the genetic engineering. Which is the genetic changes of an organism or micro organism to produce a desirable product. For example the transfer of human gene into bacteria for the production of insulin. Biotechnology is also used in the diagnostic techniques of genetic disorders.
