What does it mean when a doctor says he/she is about to dissect the distal end of the popliteal artery?

    The popliteal artery is located in the knee and back of the leg. It branches off from the femoral artery.

    So when a doctor says he/she is about to dissect the distal end of the popliteal artery it means he is going to cut the end of the artery going into the back of your knee at the far end of the artery.
