    Theoretically, prior to catheterization, the volume of urine that ought to be in the bladder is around the range of 400-600mls, but in this situation, the client who is seen to be under paraplegia and basically beginning to show a clean irregular catheterization, with a risk of showing the symptoms of oedema due to the impaired mobility.

    If copious fluid is administered, and involuntary urination or defecation develops as result of paraplegia and decrease in muscle control, 350mls should be permitted to be gathered in the urinary bladder prior to catheterization to prevent the earlier stated conditions from manifesting.
