The ectothermic animals are as under:

    a. Western fence lizard

    b. Xenopus (African clawed frog)

    c. Fruit Fly

    e. Turtle

    h. Sea Urchin

    Explanation:

Ectotherms are the animals which cannot regulate their body temperature and therefore their body temperature depends upon external sources. All the invertebrates are ectothermic animals. Among vertebrates fish, amphibians and reptiles are ectothermic. Ectotherms are also known as cold-blooded animals. All the above mentioned animals are either invertebrates, amphibians or reptiles and therefore they are categorized as ectotherms.

In contrast to this, endotherms are the animals which can regulate their body temperature via various mechanisms. In extremely cold weather, endotherms can shiver to generate body heat so that they could feel heated internally even though the temperature outside is extremely low. In order to counter extremely high temperature during summers, they have got sweat glands which they use to generate sweat so as to cause cooling effect in the body. Mammalian and avian animals like penguin, chicken and koala are endotherms.
