The molecules that are water loving are known as hydrophillic in nature. The phospholipid bi layer has both the parts in it. One part of the cell membrane is hydrophillic in nature and other part is hydrophobic.

The hydrophillic parts repels the hydrophobic substances and the hydrophobic part repels the hydrophillic substances.

The molecules such as water is hydrophillic in nature and is excluded from the hydrophobic part of cell membrane.
