When light energy is absorbed at that time the system gets excited which result in the conversion of light energy to chemical energy which is utilized by the system to do work.

    Explanation:

When light energy is absorbed by a system at that time the molecules present in the system becomes excited by gaining energy.

The excited molecules then return to its original ground state by releasing energy which is in turn absorbed by adjacent molecules.

Thus the light energy is transferred from from excited molecule to the ground state molecule by converting itself into chemical energy.
