    Meiosis is a type of cell division in which gametes are formed and number of chromosome is reduce i. e. from double to half.

In meiosis, the parent cell that is diploid i. e. double number of chromosomes, is divided into four daughter cells having half number of chromosome each i. e. haploid or monoploid.
