    The three phases of the human ovarian cycle are:

    1. Follicular phase

    This is a phase controlled by estradiol, during which follicles in the ovary mature.

    2. Ovulation

    This is a phase in which eggs are released from the ovaries when the follicles rupture.

    3. Luteal phase

    This is the phase is under the control of progesterone. At the beginning of luteal phase, corpus luteum is formed and it ends in either pregnancy or luteolysis.
