Explain why an enzyme can no longer function once it has been denatured

All enzymes are proteinaceous in nature, hence there must be a structural organisation of the protein molecule. The specific structure of the protein of the enzymes is important for the activity of an enzyme. Therefore, once an enzyme structure is destroyed due to any condition such as temperature, pressure or salinity, the enzyme become no longer functional. The active site of an enzyme become lost due to denaturation, hence unable to bind with the substrate molecule for its activity.
