    ADL (Activities of daily living)

Is simply referring to our day-to-day living such as daily activity done for the purpose of self-care (take for example, feeding oneself, bathing, dressing, grooming), work, homemaking, and leisure.

IADLs (Instrumental activities of daily living) involves independent living such as cooking, savings, shopping, housework chores and doing laundry.

They are necessary because the strength to undergo both ADLs and IADLs reveals ones level of Self Sufficiency and independency.
