To develop a fruit, plants need to have flowers. flowering plants develop flowers which contain ovules (and ovary) which are pollinated and eventually develop into the fruits. the ovules become the seed of the fruit. since the tomato is the fruit of the plant and has seeds inside it, i can conclude that the tomato came from a flowering plant
