How many different combinations of maternal and paternal chromosomes can be packaged in gametes made by an organism with a diploid number of 8 (2n = 8) ?

    Explanation:

    Gametes are produced by meiosis cell division where it results the meiosis products to have half the number of chromosome as the parent.

    So the meiosis products of the above organism will have 4 chromosomes each.

    However, due to chromosome paring like male have XY pairing and females XX. So each pair has a combination of 8 chromosomes

    The total number of chromosome will be 8 plus 8 and it will be 16
