    Soap has sodium laurel sulfate this removes food stains on dishes by removing proteins and fats. Soap acts in the same way during Dna extraction.

    pulling apart the lipids and proteins that make up the membrane surrounding the cell and nucleus. Once these membranes are broken apart, the DNA is released from the cell.
