    This is generally attributed to coal-powered thermal power plants which are responsible for burning large amounts of fossil fuels in order to generate electricity.

    Most scientists agree that thermal power plants that use coal can be extremely dangerous for the environment as they can release large amounts of sulfur oxide in the air.
