    Diploid number 4 implies 2n = 4. At the end of the meiosis prophase, chromatin condenses into two rod shaped structures called chromosomes, in which they become visible. The nucleolus disappears, the mitotic spindle forms, and the nuclear envelope disappears. The chromosomes are replicated forming two sister chromatids. In the end there are 8 chromatids.
